How much Jesus is “too much” Jesus?

Watch Brian H.’s touching performance at the
Superior Street Elementary after-school talent show.

Brian H., a 5th-grade student at Superior Street Elementary in Los Angeles, wanted to perform in the after-school talent show to his favorite Christian song, “We Shine.” But the school principal attempted to keep Brian from participating because of the “offensive” Christian lyrics, and even suggested to Brian’s mother that he choose a song that “does not say ‘Jesus’ so many times.”

By God’s grace – just hours after Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed an emergency legal action on Brian’s behalf – victory was secured that allowed Brian to perform to the song praising Jesus’ name. Shortly thereafter, the Los Angeles Unified School District also agreed to change its unconstitutional policy, which will protect religious speech from being censored during future student activities.

With your support, Alliance Defending Freedom will continue to defend the constitutionally protected rights of Christian students – like Brian – on public school campuses across America. Your generous gift today will help provide legal assistance at no cost to the students. And by establishing a recurring monthly gift, you will have the opportunity to help keep the door open for the spread of the Gospel in public schools for generations to come.
